LIPUTAN6ENGLISH – Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) stands as one of the most popular natural tourist destinations in Indonesia. This national park is situated in East Java, precisely in the regions of Probolinggo Regency, Pasuruan Regency, and Lumajang Regency.

Encompassing approximately 800,000 hectares, TNBTS boasts a diverse range of beautiful natural ecosystems, including mountains, hills, and plateaus.

On December 4, 2023, TNBTS was acclaimed as The World’s Most Beautiful National Parks 2023 by Bounce, a travel service platform based in San Francisco, California, USA. TNBTS secured the third position, following Kruger National Park in South Africa at the top spot and Lençóis Maranhenses National Park in Brazil at second place.

Bounce’s assessment was grounded in the accumulation of Instagram posts, TikTok views, online reviews, and keyword searches on Google throughout the year 2023. In Bounce’s list, TNBTS even surpassed Zhangjiajie National Forest Park in China and Fuji Hakone Izu National Park in Japan.

Global Beauty of TNBTS

There are numerous reasons why TNBTS was acknowledged as one of the most beautiful national parks in the world. One of these reasons is the extraordinary natural beauty it possesses. The national park offers breathtaking landscapes, from the towering Mount Semeru, whispering sand expanses, to exotic crater lakes.

Mount Semeru is one of the highest volcanoes in Indonesia, standing at an elevation of 3,676 meters above sea level. It is also one of the active volcanoes in Indonesia.

The whispering sand desert is one of the most popular natural tourist destinations in TNBTS. Located in Cemoro Lawang Village, Sukapura District, Probolinggo Regency, this sand desert spans approximately 500 hectares and is surrounded by mountains and hills.

Crater lakes are lakes formed within volcanic craters. In TNBTS, there are two crater lakes, namely Lake Ranu Kumbolo and Lake Ranu Regulo. Lake Ranu Kumbolo is situated at an altitude of 2,300 meters above sea level, while Lake Ranu Regulo is located at 2,100 meters above sea level.

In addition to its extraordinary natural beauty, TNBTS also boasts intriguing cultural richness. The Tengger tribe, the indigenous people inhabiting the area, adds a unique cultural touch with traditions like the annual Yadnya Kasada ceremony.

Positive Impact of Global Recognition

The Bounce award is undoubtedly joyous news for Indonesia, particularly for the people of East Java. This recognition signifies that the beauty of TNBTS has been acknowledged globally.

The award is also expected to have a positive impact on tourism in East Java by increasing the interest of tourists in visiting TNBTS.

East Java Governor, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, expressed her delight at the award. She stated that the recognition is proof of Indonesia’s extraordinary natural tourism potential.

“Alhamdulillah, Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park has been acclaimed as The World’s Most Beautiful National Parks 2023. This is a source of pride for Indonesia, especially for the people of East Java,” said Khofifah.

Khofifah also mentioned that efforts would continue to be made to preserve the beauty of TNBTS. She hopes that this award will encourage an improvement in the quality of tourism services in TNBTS.
